DOMME – Walled medieval village with fantastic views and its own underground caves. Children will enjoy the miniature train ride.
LA ROQUE-GAGEAC – picture-book village beside the river
BEYNAC – explore its cobbled streets and imposing castle that was home to Richard the Lionheart. Or take a scenic boat trip along the river.
LES EYZIES – On the river Vézère. Home to the museum of pre-history and Cro-Magnon man.
PERIGUEUX – Capital of the Dordogne. An hour’s drive but worth the trip to see its historic area, restaurants and shops.
ROCAMADOUR – Actually in the Lot, but close by (35 mins). Spectacular medieval village built into cliff face. Children will enjoy the monkey forest
